What Even is This Place

Let’s break the ice.

Tensions with my bandmates have been running high for a while. Then those damn T-shirts showed up. Of course, our lead singer has a problem with them. The dude’s on an ego trip, forget ‘him. I need to blow off some steam. Maybe I decide to drop a little acid at a party with some high schoolers. Things get weird, and before you know it, I'm on the rooftop announcing to them that I’m a “golden god.”

Fast forward to the next morning. I’m wrapped in a towel in a stranger’s home. The tour bus is parked out front, and my manager is pleading with me to get back on. That’s when it hits me.

I’ve made a fool of myself. Even worse, I have to face them. My bandmates. They’re pissed. Why wouldn’t they be? I am too. It can’t go on like this. The silence is going to rip us apart.

But unexpectedly, something beautiful happens.

It’s subtle at first, just someone tapping along to the beat. Then, a little head-bobbing. The thaw is beginning, It’s contagious.

And before we know it, unplanned and unrehearsed, we're all singing the same song.

Our problems haven’t gone away. No one has apologized. But there’s something bigger than all of us at work. The reason we’re on this bus in the first place… it’s in the script.

Come on, you really thought I was in a band? Yeah, so  everyone’s ears can gently weep. I just needed the right scene to break the ice. Something that fits the little metaphor I’m building. Kudos if you picked up on it early. Also… good movie, right.

Anyways, let’s get back on track. Here’s my short dissertation on what this place actually is. Because this is kind of like my bus – a space where I can riff about some of the things that help keep me going: movies, TV, music, history, storytelling, and whatever else decides to tag along for the ride.

If that sounds like your scene, hop aboard. There's plenty of room and a lot to share.
